بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ,

It is always interesting to see how desperate Christians become in order to validate their scripture to the other two Abrahamic faiths, namely Islam and Judaism. One such person is a young Christian Islamophobe, who essentially copy pastes arguments from well known Christian intellectual frauds such as Clair Tisdall or Raymond Lull. His tactics remind me of that Okay Go song, "Here it goes again", as it seems all he is able to do is spin the truth time and time again. His name is Kazim Salami and this is a refutation of his child like abilities.

This claim comes from Sunan Abu Dawud, Book 38 Kitab al Hudud, Hadith Number 4434:

Narrated Abdullah Ibn Umar {ra} : A group of Jews came and invited the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) to Quff. So he visited them in their school. They said: AbulQasim, one of our men has committed fornication with a woman; so pronounce judgment upon them. They placed a cushion for the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) who sat on it and said: Bring the Torah. It was then brought. He then withdrew the cushion from beneath him and placed the Torah on it saying: I believed in thee and in Him Who revealed thee. He then said: Bring me one who is learned among you. Then a young man was brought. The transmitter then mentioned the rest of the tradition of stoning similar to the one transmitted by Malik from Nafi'(No. 4431).  [1]
Mr. Salami, has taken a screenshot of this hadith and edited it to emphasize the above embolden lines. Now what is his claim from this? [Please note, some words have been replaced by an asterisk due to some highly offensive and abusive meanings.]

Breaking news: muhammad proved a *********** prophet confirming the corrupted Torah.
Mr. Salami then goes on to say how Muslims would approach this "revealing" hadith (please note that this collection is more than 1000 years old). I find it quite funny that he presents it as a new discovery, when Christians for centuries have been using this hadith to prove their book to be true. So what are his other claims?

Now what can be the typical muslim response?

1.Ignoring their own sources, saying that they are not authentic. But still two hadis from sunan abu dawud clearly confirms that.

2.Wrong tranlsation:

No,this translation is from the muslim website.Even then if it is wrong then the website is dishonest and so too the scholars.Arabicis afunny language 1432 years have passed and humans cannot still produce a comparatively reliable translation.

So his argument in full is that Muhammad {saw} confirmed the Torah and that there can be no denying of that, because the only way to do so is to deny the hadith and to claim a wrong translation.

However, we will not deny this hadith or say the translation is wrong. Yet, before I begin, I would just like to educate Mr. Salami, I understand he may be drunk from his consumption of the blood of Christ {wine in most Churches}, but we in the field of academia and in as much we prefer sobriety, we know the differences between verbatim language statements and interpretation of a language.

A translation from any language, let's say Arabic or otherwise, is an interpretation of that language into another language. The interpretation of said language is down to the understanding of the interpreter. Generally, this is how communication works:

(1) A message is encoded.
(2) A method of transmission for that message is selected.
(3) The message is transmitted.
(4) The message is received.
(5) The message is decoded.
(6) The message is attempted to be understood.

Translation usually picks up from steps (4), (5) and (6). Therefore we can get several variations depending on how a person decodes a language and then interprets whatever the message was from his/ her decoding. So while it may surprise him that after 1432 years translations differ or are disagreed upon, educated people understand this to be a norm in our fields of study. We suggest for Mr. Salami that he goes to a vocational school and do a basic course in languages so that he does not continue to bring shame upon his lackluster upbringing or failed educational status.

As for the hadith in Sunan Abu Dawud, did Muhammad {saw} confirm the Torah? Well, the answer is no, he didn't confirm the Torah of the Jews but the Torah of Moses, as explained in another hadith from Sunan Abu Dawud, Book 38 Kitab al Hudud, Hadith Number 4433 (yes, this is the hadith before the hadith listed above!):

Narrated Al-Bara' ibn Azib {ra} : The people passed by the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) with a Jew who was blackened with charcoal and who was being flogged. He called them and said: Is this the prescribed punishment for a fornicator? They said: Yes. He then called on a learned man among them and asked him: I adjure you by Allah Who revealed the Torah to Moses, do you find this prescribed punishment for a fornicator in your divine Book? He said: By Allah, no. If you had not adjured me about this, I should not have informed you. We find stoning to be prescribed punishment for a fornicator in our Divine Book. But it (fornication) became frequent in our people of rank; so when we seized a person of rank, we left him alone, and when we seized a weak person, we inflicted the prescribed punishment on him. So we said: Come, let us agree on something which may be enforced equally on people of higher and lower rank. So we agreed to blacken the face of a criminal with charcoal, and flog him, and we abandoned stoning. The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) then said: O Allah, I am the first to give life to Thy command which they have killed. So he commanded regarding him (the Jew) and he was stoned to death. Allah Most High then sent down: "O Apostle, let not those who race one another into unbelief, make thee grieve..." up to "They say: If you are given this, take it, but if not, beware!...." up to "And if any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) unbelievers," about Jews, up to "And if any do fail to judge by (the right of) what Allah hath revealed, they are no better than) wrong-doers" about Jews: and revealed the verses up to "And if any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) those who rebel." About this he said: This whole verse was revealed about the disbelievers.
We see that the same prayer is made from the two ahadith:

"He then withdrew the cushion from beneath him and placed the Torah on it saying: I believed in thee and in Him Who revealed thee." (4434)
"and asked him: I adjure you by Allah Who revealed the Torah to Moses....." (4433)

It is a prayer/ oath which is made, that Muhammad {saw} is doing to demonstrate that he knows the reality of the Torah for which God has revealed and for that which the Jews have corrupted, which is explained in the second hadith which the Jew admitted:

If you had not adjured me about this, I should not have informed you. We find stoning to be prescribed punishment for a fornicator in our Divine Book. But it (fornication) became frequent in our people of rank; so when we seized a person of rank, we left him alone, and when we seized a weak person, we inflicted the prescribed punishment on him. So we said: Come, let us agree on something which may be enforced equally on people of higher and lower rank. So we agreed to blacken the face of a criminal with charcoal, and flog him, and we abandoned stoning.

So in essence, Muhammad {saw} is confirming the punishment found within the Torah which Allah revealed, hence his statement: " I believed in thee and in Him Who revealed thee" and showing the Jews how misguided they have become, he is not confirming their Torah, but confirming the same punishment that was in the Torah which they had ceased.

This is easily demonstrated as both ahadith mention the purpose of him inquiring of their Torah:

"They said: AbulQasim, one of our men has committed fornication with a woman; so pronounce judgment upon them." (4434)

"We find stoning to be prescribed punishment for a fornicator in our Divine Book." (4433)

Allah has indeed commanded stoning as punishment and the Messenger {saw} has confirmed that the punishment was revealed to the Jews in the Torah of Allah, for which the Jews at his time had abolished:

"If you had not adjured me about this, I should not have informed you.........So we agreed to blacken the face of a criminal with charcoal, and flog him, and we abandoned stoning." (4433)

I hope that Mr. Salami has learned something from this. He should honestly try to become educated and be a truthful and honest person. Cherry picking one hadith to then appeal to the fallacy of a hasty generalization simply demonstrates his desperation to prove his fraudulent and faltering beliefs. There is something we in academia, or even a child in vocational school would learn and it is called, "Contextual Analysis", you simply don't assume a position or jump to a conclusion from a literary piece by isolating one point or statement from it. All these statements have a context and they must be analyzed in the context of the situation, the people, the time, the place, the history, the beliefs etc etc. I do not have the time to sit and teach Mr. Salami what a five year old should know, if he wants to have an education, he can contact us and there are many schools we can recommend.

Until such a time, thank you for reading and I will surely seek to embarrass Mr. Salami when he again attacks our Sayydina Maulana Muhammad {saw}.
